Through the question How much?, the 8th Tallinn Architecture Biennale (TAB’26) examines the relationship between constraint, cost and spatial production, challenging the apparent cheapness generated by market-driven efficiencies. Rooted in the Estonian context, it considers architecture’s true financial, social and ecological costs—from conception, materials and labour to use, maintenance, adaptability and the social infrastructures it supports.

Through its main exhibition, installations, vision competition, public interventions, symposium and collaborations across geographic, academic and artistic fields, TAB’26 explores both the consequences of cheapness and the inventive possibilities that emerge from scarcity. Together, these formats propose new ways of understanding value, affordability and responsibility in architecture.
