The 23rd Biennial Conference of the International Confederation of Architectural Museums brings together curators, archivists, researchers, educators and practitioners to consider changing approaches to architectural collections. Five thematic sessions examine loss and archival silence, curatorial experimentation, digital preservation, pedagogy and the development of repositories attentive to local knowledge and regional histories.

Combining discussions with visits to Istanbul’s architectural heritage, collections and cultural institutions, the programme explores how museums and archives can respond to contemporary challenges. Questions of memory, institutional care and public engagement connect the sessions, opening up debate on whose histories are preserved and how they become accessible.
