The Experimental Fellowship supports practitioners and cross-disciplinary teams working on regenerative, circular, and climate-conscious solutions in the building sector. It aims to drive systemic change in architecture by advancing sustainable material practices and low-carbon construction methods.
The program offers financial support (up to €30,000), mentorship, and technical guidance, along with access to an international network of research and industry partners. Fellows engage in rigorous material research, developing and testing building products and construction systems using natural, regional resources and reusable waste materials.
In collaboration with Bauhaus Earth, the Fellowship combines practice-based architectural approaches with scientific expertise and research infrastructure. This enables participants to translate experimental work into real-world applications across diverse contexts.
Open to projects of various scales and typologies, the Fellowship supports two international Fellows for 9–12 months, helping them turn innovative ideas into actionable solutions that contribute to a more sustainable built environment.
About
The Experimental Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by architect Prof. Regine Leibinger. Since 2022, the Foundation has promoted sustainable architectural projects and practices that contribute to a transformative shift in the building sector.
