The exhibition treats food as an active political and spatial infrastructure. The installations and performances by the invited artists, scattered throughout the urban fabric of Brussels — from delivery vans supplying Polish grocery shops, through the multicultural market in Anderlecht and grassroots urban farms, to bars, gardens and compost bins in Ixelles — enable us to map out informal economies, logistical supply systems and the migration of flavours between Eastern and Western Europe. Through these interventions, the artists explore the culinary landscape of the Polish diaspora, revealing the ‘shadow architecture’ of food and migration: grassroots survival strategies, sour flavours, practices of hospitality, and the micro-politics and micro-economics that shape them.
