BUILT / UNBUILT Reader is an editorial project developed by KoozArch to accompany the Public Programme of talks curated by Beatrice Leanza for the Pavilion of Saudi Arabia at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition. Conceived as both a record and an extension of the programme, the project takes the form of a series of four dedicated readers that gather, expand, and critically frame the contributions presented across the public encounters.

The readers bring together the voices, positions, and practices engaged during four public conversations held between the Pavilion and Palazzo Diedo from June to November 2025. Each volume corresponds to a thematic strand of the programme—Archiving Otherwise, Material Ecologies, Pedagogies of Proximity and Relation, and Building Participatory Infrastructures—offering a space where dialogue, research, and speculative thought can be articulated beyond the temporal limits of the live events.

Collectively, the readers convene the perspectives of invited practitioners, researchers, and cultural actors, including Shumon Basar, the Institute for Postnatural Studies, Noura Al Sayeh-Holtrop, Studio Ossidiana, among many others. Through essays, conversations, and visual material, BUILT / UNBUILT positions the reader not only as documentation, but as an active editorial platform—one that reflects on contemporary architectural practice while foregrounding alternative modes of knowledge production, collaboration, and public engagement.
