The Thorn House is an intervention inspired by Eastern European graduation towers, reinterpreting it as a pedestrian bridge. It functions as a pavilion and air-filter, collecting rainwater and capturing air pollution. Its modular structure can be expanded over time. Adjacent constructed wetland collects grey water and serves as a rainwater buffer. The pavilion supports a water tank for irrigation of the adjacent community garden.

Thorn House is part of the “Productive Commons” project for Keilekwartier in Rotterdam. It was developed by Studio Iza Słodka and Federica Zatta with contributions from Adi Samet and Aga Batkiewicz.
