Amidst a staggeringly unequal distribution of wealth and capitalist greed, resources continue to be exhausted, perpetuating a peculiar geography of exclusion: an absurd landscape where some reside above the ground with a ‘glittery’ consumerist lifestyle while others live below, the ‘Invisibles’ in their own “other” world. While trying to reconstruct the reality of this absurd landscape, “THE POWER OF THE ‘INVISIBLES’” brings to the surface the world of the ‘Invisibles’ with their resilient practices. A world that challenges the consumer-driven city by reappropriating its discards. A film projection captures and critiques the two parallel worlds by overlapping the real and the surreal, while an accompanying installation indicates the alternative use of materials that grapple with conditions of scarcity.
