The project explores the transformation of agricultural waste into biocomposites using advanced 3D printing technologies. Focused on the historically significant non-food crop of cotton, this initiative reflects on its role in the Central Valley's agriculture, particularly within the Tulare Lake bed, which was once drained for agriculture purposes but has re-emerged due to heavy rains, spotlighting the urgent need for sustainable solutions. By employing bioprinting techniques, the project aims to create functional habitats that contribute to ecological restoration. Advocating a "material ecology" approach, it reimagines cotton's ecological context and promotes scalable, innovative practices to address historical agricultural impacts and ongoing water crises.
