The project is located in the industrial wasteland area of Bas de Chantenay in Nantes, an area which has recently become popular for smaller business owners and local artisans as a result of its big hangars and storage spaces.

Characterised by fifty-seven, forty meters tall concrete cylinders positioned next to each other, the Sodistoc silo is an obvious landmark and one of the biggest architectural artefacts in the district. The project aims to redesign such a structure into a museum of sound, Sonoduc, challenging architecture as a musical instrument. The project exploits the unusual acoustic properties of these concrete cylinders and draws upon the approach of carving as explored within projects as MOCAA by Heatherwick studio to create a series of spaces for the practicing and performing of music and different forms of art.

The project was developed within the context of Czech Technical University of Architecture.
