Contrary to the common perception of plastic as a temporary, disposable material, this project aims to highlight its potential as a durable architectural building material. The focus is on showcasing the tectonic and architectural possibilities of using recycled plastic as a mono-material. The tectonic qualities are inspired by the material properties: the curved shape which comes from the industrial prefabrication and the bending of plastic panels; the transparency, which offers new opportunities for space division and varying levels of privacy; and the structural strength, enhanced by incorporating fibers and reinforcements into the plastic panels. These aspects present new architectural
opportunities, leading to the development of a SelfCare Center that demonstrates the potential of recycled plastic. This Master Thesis project was developed within the context of the University of applied Arts Vienna.
