This project developed within the context of the Manchester School of Architecture, studies the context of Cumbria (Northwest England) through an inclusive lens to acknowledge the complexity of the countryside and understand the existing challenges in rural areas, such as depopulation, high rates of migration and the mental health crisis, to shape the thesis question. The project while criticising the policy regarding historical farmsteads, it is seeking potential response to the existing challenges in the farming industry, rural area and contemporary lifestyle. Harmony Field is a future business model for farmland diversification by utilizing the therapeutic aspects of farming. Economically, this project encourages farmers to revitalize abandoned farmsteads and establish diverse therapeutic hospitality projects and nature-based activities for a sustainable long-term vision through the typology, spatial program and design manifestation.
