Milan, like other cities worldwide which have been subject to lock down, emptied itself. Photographing it risked showing a city in the midst of the summer holidays or in the early hours of the day when it hadn't woken up yet. But the city was not sleeping, the city was on a break. Architecture remained, but its use was frozen. Advertising billboards are today an integral part of the architecture of our cities. In a few days these billboards were dismantled and, removed of their messages which bombard us daily, became architectures in their own right.
