Developed at RISD in Providence, the project is an extension as artist residence & studio for Boris Lurie Art Foundation. It represents a genuine collection of architectural spaces in addition to its holdings in art. The intention is to elegantly bring three different materials, concrete, wood and brass together. From the exterior people see brass finishing covering CLT surfaces gently. But going through interior spaces people will encounter concrete surfaces surprisingly after experiencing a series of different scales of exhibition spaces wrapped in wood surfaces. The double, triple height space brings light into art spaces, touching the top of solid concrete massing. Also, people might experience the total dark and covered space, surrounded by mostly concrete and partly wood surfaces on the top of the concrete staircase.
