Black – Still is a multi-sensory installation by the interdisciplinary practice enFOLD Collective. Organised by Materials & Applications and presented in Craft Contemporary’s outdoor courtyard from May 28 to September 10, 2023, the project’s design and its complementing programs explore narratives of wellness, access, and cultural expression with specific attention to marginalised communities. Rendered in simple, familiar materials, the project’s reverential volume is responsive to various obstacles on, above, and beneath the ground, while its dark finish evokes the tar running underground and celebrates Black in a response to traditional and modernist notions in architecture predicated on whiteness.
