This thesis investigates our relationship to, and management of, our bodily excretions, using this subject matter to open up a broader societal conversation about the long term consequences and trajectories of our contemporary hyper-individualism. The sewers are the backbone of the modern city. They are inexorably connected to urbanisation, sprawl, and consumption. The thesis proposes a building that reveals this invisible infrastructure, allowing the individual to see their contribution to the collective and to re-establish a physical bodily connection to their natural "waste". The project was developed within the context of the Mackintosh School of Architecture.
