Catapult – a creative weapon of deviation.

The catapult might have been one of the artifacts that needed most development back in Medieval times. It’s engineers needed to both construct mechanisms that would provide enormous strength, but also calibrate where the projectile would land. A complex fit between physics and mathematics, as the emergence of a theoretical model, then confronted to the imprecision of our material world and our environment.

This project emerges from the desire to explore the deviations of a machine that tends towards absolute precision: it confronts a theoretical model to the unpredictable nature of our environment. The impact of the paint is the measurement of the derivation.  At a time when machines have enabled us to acquire the precisions beyond what we can as humans perceive, the deviation and the unexpected become fundamental notions of inspiration.
